Consumer Report

I received a bunch of Mailer Daemon failure notices in the early morning on Feb. 12. When I contacted Yahoo support, (800) 941-7590, I was connected to tech support who asked to remotely access my computer using logmein123.com. I granted access and the tech pulled up a "Sticky Note" on my computer where he outlined my options to resolve my computer violation. He noted that Mac would take 5-7 days and would cost $350 (among other details) OR that for $300 and 1-2 hours of remote access, they could fix all my computer issues. I was leery and asked if he worked for Yahoo, which is who I originally believed I had called. He said "Yes" and I authorized the charge. Today (10 days later) at the Apple Store, I was informed that I had likely been scammed. I contacted the same number (Global Tech Help) and demanded my money back, invoking their "100% satisfaction guarantee". They agreed to refund my money (after first suggesting that they refund $200 of the $300) so we'll see. I also requested that they send me an email to confirm the refund.
