Indian Customer Service Not Making Things Clear Causing Me Huge Loss-No Refund Issued

Stay away, they take you money! I booked a ticket for about $900 and later changed the ticket to another day. When I do the search online, tickets with similar price was still available, all I need to pay was basically just the change of flight fee, which is $280. But they made a notice on the site that if I want to change within the same airline company, I just need to pay a change of $180, and all I had to do was call. I called and there was an Indian lady answering the call with a strong accent and talked very fast. I didn't get what she said, but she asked me to pay $1,000 in the end. I asked her if the $1,000 was all I had to pay, she said YES. So I booked the ticket and hope the previous charge would be dropped. But it didn't. So I call them again and they said the $1,000 was the fare difference, so they need to keep BOTH charge. And the reason that they refuse give me a refund is that the fare had been collected. But wasn't it your mistake? Why should I pay for your mistake? I will never come back to ORBITZ again I swear.
