Colonial Home Warranty
Lies and Deception

On December 21, I put in a claim to have my oven repaired. The oven portion of my stove would not light. Colonial assigned a contractor to handle the job. The contractor came out, assessed the problem, and told me he would order the parts, and get back to me. After 2 weeks had passed I called Colonial home Warranty, and they said one of their representatives would call me back. Finally after another call to Colonial, 3 days later, I received a call back saying my claim had been denied because the problem was caused because of a "power surge". This seemed extremely peculiar to me since the other electronics on my stove were working and my top burners were working. They all are lit by an electronic generated spark. Also none of my other kitchen appliances were affected. When I questioned this diagnosis, Colonials representative said they would look into the situation further. 3 days later I get another call back from Colonial stating to me they spoke AGAIN with the contractor and that he said it was a "power surge" that caused the problem, and that Colonial does not cover power surges. I still was not satisfied with that explanation, and called the contractor myself and was told that they had NOT had any further conversations with Colonial since recommending a new ignitor switch for the oven, which it needed. They said to me that they said NOTHING of a power surge, and that a power surge did NOT cause the stove problem. Someone is not telling the truth, and the contractor has no reason to do so.
