Servpro was hired by my insurance company, not me, because I had had previous experience with them and was not happy. They removed all of my things that were left, without givng me a chance to go thru them. They took about $300 worth of quarters that were bagged up from my vending machines and although they were supposedly put in someone's desk for "safe keeping", that person was never there when I stopped in, and the money eventually disappeared. When I requested some of my kitchen things to use in a temporary home, I had to go thru many miscellaneous boxes to find them and my hands were black when I was done. All my things had to be re-washed, many stayed sooty after going thru the dishwasher and had to be washed by hand. Several boxes of plastics were saved and supposedly cleaned, but never lost the fire smell. Many things had black rings in them from where the water puddles from the "washing" had dried.
I was a long time getting back into my home and when I did finally recieve my the rest of my things, there were mouse droppings in them, and I had some things that weren't mine, and many of my things were not there (kitchen knives, especially) In addition, even though my boyfriend did more than half of the unloading of the boxes, they billed me nearly $300 for that. To this day, I have many things still stored in their boxes, and each time I go thru them my hands get covered in soot.
I am still missing many things and I don't know whether they were misplaced or stolen, either way is unacceptable for the money they charged (which I ended up paying in the end).
I also gave them specific instructions to NOT take any clothing because the only clothing that did not burn were 3 large bags that had been sitting by the kitchen door to be taken to charities. They took them and sent them to a clothing restoration company and it cost me $975 to clean 2 bags of outgrown and damaged clothing on its way to goodwill, plus a bag of old and torn blankets and rugs that were on their way to the animal shelter! Even the clothes were ruined because they stayed wet in the bags for so long that the colors transferred and mildew formed. After losing 90% of my belongings to a fire, I lost additional out-of-pocket money, and never recieved my most valuable kitchen utensils.
I would NEVER hire or recommend Servpro.
