On 4/27, I had a fire in my home and Northcross Restoration Team came to my house less than 10 minutes after the fire department left. Micheal Duggan and his wife Sabrina Clark were the 2 representatives that talked to us. They came in at the right time and knew all the right things to say to someone who is devistated. They made promises that we needed to hear at the time. But low and behold this company was my worst nightmare. They came in and informed of of a few things that needed to be done which was we needed a place to stay while they get my home back in order. Well they found us an apartment, which was very nice, however they never told us they were charging my insurance company $3000.00 for one month's stay. They tried to make me stay 2 months but when i found out what they were doing, I moved back in my home. The next things is they had a company called Midsouth Restoration and Garment come in my home and take all my clothes, accessories and anything else not nailed down out of my home to clean for smoke and soot. I didn't want this to happen, but because Mike Duggan said this is what needs to be done in order for my family not to wear clothes that smell like smoke all the time, i allowed them to take them. Before they took them, i questioned Sandra Poe about the price and why did they have to take everything and she said that's what we have to do. After they took all this from my home, the next nightmare began. We continually requested clothes to attend functions for my son and we not given what we asked for. When questioned about it, she would always want to meet us and never let us come to her. So finally I gave my husband the address the was on their company letterhead and asked him to go get our clothes. When he went to the address, he found out there is no cleaners at that address, only company mailboxes. We freaked and called Sandra, without letting her know and asked why cant we come meet her and get some clothes and that when she informed us that our clothes were in Jackson, Tn. We were never informed that our clothes would leave Memphis, more or less be sent to Jackson, Tn. So finally after I moved back in my home, Sandra had someone else return the clothes to my husband. Two days later when I go through the clothes to check them and put them up, I find clothes after clothes that are not mine so I stopped and I called Sandra back to inform her of this and asked do they launder multiple families clothing together and she lied to me and said no. After she returned to my house the next day, I proceeded to go through the rest of the rack and still continued to find another families clothing in the same plastic as mine. When I finished, there were 2 racks of another families clothes that were mixed in with mine. When Sandra Poe received all the clothes, she asked me to not say anything about this which I looked at her like you gotta be crazy and laughed. Then I had to call her back the next day when I noticed that we had no blue jean attire at all. I informed her of this and she asked where they on the list. This was the biggest insult because my husband and son had no clothes except and few shirts and slacks returned. She called me back and brought a trunk and a back seat full of clothes that she said at first they didn't have. When I loaded the clothes on the rack, there were 2 1/2 racks of clothes that we were missing. Because of this I proceeded to go through my closet the next day to fully check what she returned to us. That's when I found a few more items of another families and noticed I had a lot of business attire missing. I contacted Sandra again and she proceeds to say is it on the list. After this I sent her and her company an itemized list of the attire that is missing which is $1885.00. I forgot to mention before I could send her the bill of my missing items, she sent my insurance company a cleaning bill for my clothing of $13000.00. Yes that number is correct. When I say this company is fraudelant, they are. The next thing is I fired Northcross Restoration Team because they: a. Packed dirty items, when they were suppose to be cleaned first. B. They tried to prolong a job of 1 month into a job of 2 months. C. They packed burned items in boxes to get paid $32 a box. These items were burned and should have been thrown away. They are potential hazards to make my family sick. D. They didn't box or pack glass mirrors or shelves, they just threw them in a recliner chair, where they could have been easily broken. E.instead of cleaning by door frames as they were being paid to do, they varnished soot into the wood of my door frames. F. I continually asked them for an estimate of how much the services they were providing would cost, they made excuses for 3 weeks. I finally demanded the estimate and got it on 5/18/10.By now I had had enough of this company, so I terminated their services on 5/24/10. After I terminated their services, I asked for an itemized bill so we could settle the account. The next nightmare reared it's head. Because I terminated them and they were not going to collect the amount of insurance money they wanted, they added items and charges that were not on either estimate that were given by their company or my insurance company. The charges were exaggerated in excess of $8900.00. These charges were for tearing out drywall for a small kitchen, replace drywall to that kitchen and painting a 3 rooms and a hallway. I am refusing to pay these over exaggerated charges and am willing only to pay for the work they have completed. Now I am forced to try to hire other private contractors to finish their work and I cannot hire the top companies because i will not have to money to do so. Yes these entire companies are a total rip off and I hope this helps someone else to not to use these companies and be a victim all over again like I am. Please never use Northcross Restoration, Midsouth Restoration and Garment and Southwest Homes. They all are ripping consumers and insurance companies off and the consumer is left more victimized than when they started. Please make sure you adhere to the BBB warning about companies like these.
