In may I went online to find a credit card to build my sleeping credit with. I mistakenly signed up for this online shopping account. I called (still in may) and spoke to a representative and had the account canncelled. I unfortunately did not wirte down the reps name nor did I keep the phone number I had called.
It is now October and we discovered that our account has been billed at the first of the month every month for $12. Oo. Now we have had a really rough few months here, so the money went unnoticed. However things have calemd down and we had the cance to go back and look over old bank statements.
At first everytime I called the number it was from my home phone and i always got" the number you have reached is no longer in service". So I called the number on the bank statement again this morning and she said it worked fine. So this time I called first from my home number... Got the same message and then I called from my work phone (which was laying right next to my home phone) and lo and behold they answered. Red flag anyone? The rep was bitchy and uncoroperative.
She was delighted to tell me however that they would not refund my money and even ent so far as to trap me by asking my what number I called. I thought it was the same number (please note that I called back in May and promptly threw the number away) gleefully she pointed out that it was immpossible because they didn't have that number in May. Red flag #2!
It's not alot of money. But I wonder why I can't call them from my home phone? And how many others have fallen victim to them and haven't noticed?
