I bought an HP Laptop from Circuit City, then the additional 2 yr hardware support plan. Hard Drive crashed, but how would I know. I call City and after a week of jousting, they insist that, "It's not a hardware thing."
So I send it to the manufacturer. "Uh, this is a hardware failure, " they tell me."500 bucks." No thanks, I say. I'll send back to City Advantage.
Now a month later or so, City Advantage now says I must attempt to reinstall the o/s with them, go through it with them, like I'm lying... Which i've already done, as well as HP. Ok, I do that. Another five hours. Then they make me try a BIOS check... Another five hours. They finally concede it's a hardware problem, and agree to ship me a box.
A month later, no box. Now I know why I couldn't simply ship it to them, because they have no intention of shipping a box for delivery. I call up. "Oh, well, the address you gave doesn't match the original purchase."
You get the point. They're plan is to stall and obstruct and infuriate the consumer so that the consumer gives up. As of now, three months and 20 calls later, I've shipped them the box. I can only imagine the fiction they'll create to avoid actually replacing the hardware.
