Ripoff on promises of free service then debiting your bank account over and over and over again!

My son decided to add AOL free trial onto my computer although I already had free trial of another internet service provider at that time. Free service with AOL was for 1045 days/hours and when I decided to cancel within that time limit, I was offered another 2 months free. I forgot about it and when charges were taken out of my account I immediatley called to cancel.

The rep I talked to at that time offered me 6 months free although he could only submit 2 months on his computer, told me to call by April 18th to add the other free months. On March 19 while checking my bank balance online I noticed I was overdrawn because AOL took out charges again. I called to cancel and see about getting money credited back into my account.

First call I made I had a very rude person on the phone and refused to resolve the issue. So I hung up and called again, this time getting a more decent person to talk to. He offered another 2 months free and said he would talk to his supervisor about crediting my bank account for money taken out. He also gave me his e-mail address in case I did not hear from AOL about refunding the charges.

I waited one and a half weeks and no word, so I e-mailed this rep and waited for an answer. It has been three weeks now and have not heard from this rep. Now I am thoroughly upset with AOL and am going to try to cancel no matter what. I wrote down names and dates of phone calls and all the reps I had talked to.

If they truly did record any of the conversations as they claim at the beginning of the phone calls, then they should be able to review the tapes. I now wish that my son had not installed the free cd to begin with.

I have explained my financial situation, that I cannot afford to pay for two internet service providers and that I do have a one-year contract with the other provider.

Because of AOL I ended up getting stuck with overdraft fees because of their unexpected debiting of my bank account. I am on Workers Comp and have not been able to work for almost 2 years and I do not need the financial problems they have caused me.

I didn't even like their services. It's not worth paying what they charge and the hassles they put you through in trying to cancel their services.
