Ripoff beware of "free" monthly service offe

Beware of the aol cd's that you get in the mail offering free monthly service. I received a cd offering 60 days of free trail service with aol and if at any time I wanted to cancell within those 60 days I would not be charged. I tried the service and in less than 30 days I cancelled.

Months went by without any problems and then I received a letter in the mail from aol saying that my account was 3 months past due and they needed my credit card information (since it was a free trail I did not have to give them permission to bill my card) so my bill could be paid.

I called aol and talked with someone named April and she said that they had on record where I cancelled their service within the "free" period and the issue would be taken care of. Well, the next month I received another bill saying that I was now 4 months past due and they were threatening to call a collections agency. I called again and this time I talked with a supervisor, I made sure to write down the names and times of everyone that I talked with, and again they said not to worry everything would be taken care of.

This went on for 6 months or more until I threatened to get a lawyer then it finally ended. Save yourself the headache and the hastle, I would never recomend AOl to anyone and now when I get the "Free" AOL cd's in the mail they go straight into the trash.
