Beware of misleading Overstock.com ads. Overstock.com advertised an American Plastic Toys Children's Kitchen Play Set" for $1.00. When I clicked thru to the Overstock website, the price changed to $44.99.
I used the Overstock.com LiveChat feature to chat with an Overstock's customer service representative named Phil. After providing the link to the online ad, the item # (12340510) and offering to provide a screen grab of the ad, the representative informed me that "We will not be able to sell this item for $1." and "I am sorry, we do not have control over other websites."
My issue with this is that it was an Overstock banner ad—it was not as though another website was providing inaccurate information—Overstock.com created, approved and posted this advertisement.
I feel that Overstock.com should be required to honor the price listed in the misleading banner ad.
