I purchased a Gateway M680 laptop computer and a four year extended warranty directly from Gateway in 2005. It failed on August 28, and after finding that MPC now was responsible for the extended warranty I sent the computer to their repair facility using a prepaid mailer provided by MPC on September 5.
Subsequently, I have been told at various times by various customer service representatives that the computer was waiting for parts, in repair and just ready to ship, however, I still have no computer and apparently it is still waiting for parts.
I have, with great patience, talked over four different customer service representatives, and one of their supervisors who have all given differing answers as to the status of the computer. I've talked with your Public Relations person "Michael Bass (208-893-1057)" who did return my call and sent a request to a service center manager named "Tim McGee (877-894-5695 ext. 33544)". Michael has informed me that there is no ETA for the parts needed by my computer.
I have formally requested that MPC corporation send my computer back to me and refund the approximately $350 I spent for the warranty so that I can fix my computer myself. I have, not surprisingly, gotten a response from anyone at MPC.
I would not consider buying another Gateway, nor would I consider another extended warranty and I would certainly never send my computer away for repair without some additional assurances from the company as to when they will send it back, and the consequences if they cannot fix the computer.
Any assistance in getting my computer back would be greatly appreciated.
