Last year, I was billed $79.99 on my Visa account which is where my AOL monthly internet charge goes. When i checked, was told this was for Credit Alert Service which I had accepted. When I called Credit Alert and asked them to see my authorization (signature) they did not have it. They assured me service would be stopped. Few months later, I received some credit reports from them. They appologized and said account had not been closed., it was for year then would end.
Now, I get another packet with inf. From them welcoming me into their program and that I would be billed through my visa unless I notify TC (Trilegiant Corp.) that I do not wish to renew my membership. I have called repeatedly the phone number they gave me (1-888-289-6318) and it is always busy. They do not give Trilegiant Coporation's number on all of their prospectus. Is that a phoney corporation?
At bottom of thei "membership terms and Conditions" it says: Credit Alert is a service provided by Trilegiant Corporation. Is a registered service mark of Cendant Publishing, Inc., How does AOL fit into this? Beware, AOL customers and check your billing for an added $79.99.
