I've been trying to return a product to SKYPE and get my money back for over a year.in Feb I ordered a $90 phone from skype.com and was sent an additional handset to the phone instead (value $45.) THE ADDITIONAL HANDSET CANNOT BE USED INDEPENDENT OF THE PHONE I ORDERED! So, it's useless.
I immediately called the 888-888-9562 on the packing slip/receipt, due to a 14 day return policy. The 888 number never worked. I called it hundreds of times and it only rang busy.
So, I went online to skype.com to the contact page. I sent over 20 emails to service, techs, and customer service departments, to only receive emails back telling me I had the wrong department.
There wasn't a number for a RETURNS department, so I continuously asked the different service reps to put me in contact with the correct people, and they never returned my email, or they simply returned useless emails saying I had the wrong department.
This went on for over a year until finally I got a phone number from an email. 1-866-446-0831—I asked to talk to a supervisor... Andrea. She said her company just took over SKYPE accessories, but another company was running their accessory store at the time I purchased. (IT SAYS SKYPE ACCESSORIES ON MY CREDIT CARD STATMENT!) She said I would need to speak to them. I told her they are not reachable.
She said she would contact them and get back to me. That was 2-27-08. Today is 5-7-08. I still haven't heard from Andrea.
BOTTOM LINE: Do not order anything from SKYPE. Their online products are sold by smaller companies that can not be reached. AND THEY ARE TOO INCOMPETENT TO SEND THE CORRECT ORDER.
I have a $45 phone that can't be used independently of the $90 phone I ordered— and no one will help me return it. It's their mistake—but I paid the price. SKYPE SUCKS.
