I also bought an HP dv6000 laptop in mine in August. After just one month, it started having different problems occur. I called their tech support and was told to send my computer in for repair after yet another problem developed - the wireless went out. I didn't swear much, so no one could say I was abusive and that's why they were abused my trust in them.
My laptop came back with only a couple problems addressed, the others still continued, so I called them again and they had me send it in AGAIN and finally, third time, I told them to give me my money back. So they escalated my problem, meaning I now was talking to various HP "case manager" drones in Canada who, like HP, care only about money, not people. Like others have said, I was passed around various "case managers" (more like "brown-nosers") who kept ducking my legitimate questions and observations.
Finally they determined that I must have dropped my laptop LIARS!!! I never dropped my laptop! If anything was broken, IT CAME THAT WAY! But I can't prove it - I didn't open my laptop up and photo it as proof that is was NOT dropped! WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO DO THAT???
Since "I caused" all the problems, they've now told me they're sending my computer back UNrepaired. I'd refuse delivery but I will keep this computer as proof for future claims against evil HP.
All this because HP lacks ethics and honor. I've been reading up on them - they've recently driven off one of their Board of Directors who's been with the company for FORTY years! They LIED to get people's telephone records ("pretexing") back in 2006 and got busted, paying over $10M fine for that. 8 of their top execs sold over $41M in stock right before the news came out about the pretexting scandal. They ROUTINELY attach web-bugs SPYWARE to their emails.
HP sounds and acts like they now have a culture of corruption, not one of ethics and honor. I might not ever get my money back, but I have email and a telephone WITHOUT spyware and will make sure I tell EVERYONE I know to BEWARE of CORRUPT HP!!
