I'm very new to computers. I just bought one less then 30 days ago. It came with 6 mos. Of AOL service for free. I saw an ad online from AOL about DSL highspeed access and ordered it. The cost was $119.35 all together.$110.00 activation fee (through Bellsouth)$9.35 tax.
I recieved a kit that contained 1-DSL modem... 1-Quick Start installation guide... 4-DSL filters... 1-AOL High Speed DSL CD-ROM. AOL took my creditcard number (visa checkcard) The money was taken from my bank account. I didn't even open the package, I just sent it back to AOL because my wife threw a fit about the sum.
AOL confirmed that they recieved the kit back but the fee is non refundable. I told them that I was never told about anything not being refundable! The guy at AOL said that it was in writing sent to me by e-mail. Well, I saved all AOL e-mails and theres not one word about non refunds. AOL says that Bellsouth charged AOL to activate my line. The e-mail from AOL states the start-up kit was mailed and the Bellsouth DSL activation was shipped. I thought that since it was shipped and I returned the shipment rightaway that I would get refunded.
