I have been a member of Paypal for four years and just now have had my first problem. This has been a real wakeup call for me. When and if my problems are resolved, I will never use them again!
I was contacted by Paypal on Dec 8, 2005 and informed that there was a chargeback for 509.00 against my account. The reason for the chargeback was unauthorized credit card use (the buyer's card had been stolen). One of the reasons that I am having problems is that there is no proof of delivery. That makes no sense, as they never said that they did not receive the product.
My buyer lives only an hour from me, so why would I ship the order? I got a hold of the buyer right away, and as the transaction was legit, they then asked Paypal to cancel the chargeback.
It is now Jan 5, and I have sent numerous emails and made numerous phone calls to Paypal, but they cannot seem to answer my questions. Paypal is demanding the money from me. Plus they even charged me a $10.00 service charge! I only had about 100.0 in my Paypal account, but from everything that I have read lately I am starting to believe that I may never get it back.
I went into this foolishly believing that since I am an honest person, this would all be cleared up right away. Wrong!
I would advise anyone to use extreme caution when dealing with Paypal.
