My husband just got a new job and was not covered by health insurance yet. I went on-line to look for temporary health insurance and received a phone call from Protective Smart Health Premier supposedly through Am. Life Insurance.
I was told this was discount health insurance through a group plan. That I could go to my doctors of choice and I would only be responsible for a $25 co-pay. The it would be the same at hospitals all through the United States and also included discount dental, vision, and a small life and disability policy.
I was also told I would receive five $25 vouchers to mail in after my first five doctor visits and recieve my $25 co-pay back.
I told Amy, that I would like to do some checking first and of course, I should have hung up when she said this was a one time offer.
My husband broke a bone in his foot, went to the emergency room on a Sunday, than to a recommended doctor on Monday (supposedly participating). Neither had no idea what he was talking about when he said he was suppose to have a $25 co-pay.
I spent hours on the phone being passed from one person to another trying to get some answers. Never did get a satisfactory explanation, never recieved promised returned phone calls. And I have to write a letter to Protective Marketing Enterprises to put in a request to get my money back. It will be reviewed!
It is very sad that companies get away w/this sort of thing!
