I was about 20 years old and I was looking for Health Insurance on my own. I kept getting all these phone calls from all sorts of Insurance companies. One of these insurance companies was Protective SmartHealth Premier. It was one I could afford at the time for my age, the person I talked to was very nice and informative.
About two years later, still using this insurance (I only used it to go to my local doctor who didn't accept it so I had to pay out of pocket). The summer of 2007 I moved to Virginia and called them to change my address and account information. They never changed it and i was dropped from their company. Durring that time I had to go to the hospital and I thought that I was still covered by this company.
Later when I got the hospital bill I tried calling the Protective SmartHealth Premier to see if I could re-submit the bill. Their number had changed and then I looked up their web address to find that it was listed as a scam and rip off! So I went to another web site and got another number that one was shut off along with two other numbers I had found claiming to be their's. So I did some research and found the address in Florida I looked it up online in the Yellow Pages and in was NOT FOUND so I tried the White Pages and got the same result. The one number that I have on my "insurance" card redirected me to a car insurance company, they stated that they weren't affiliated nor have they ever heard of this company! So now being one of their customers for almost 3 years and paying $160.00 a month I was paying for nothing...
