On Thursday, May 13 I responded by telephone to a mailing from Bio-Molecular Solutions, Inc, advertising a "risk-free" trial supply of MEMITOL, a nutritional supplement purporting to improve ones memory. The sales woman explained that I would pay only $7.95 for shipping and handling. It sounded like a fair deal to me, so I ordered the MEMITOL. Immediately she asked me if I would also like to try another product called NUTRI-ZYME (digestive enzymes). Paying only $7.95 for shipping and handling. Although I was interested in trying only the MEMITOL, I agreed to try also the NUTRI-ZYME for a total charge to my credit card of $15.90
Without hesitation she then tried to sell me a membership of some sort, which I refused, but then she immediately tried to sell me something else. I told her firmly that I wanted to buy NOTHING else, so the order was made and my c.C. Was charged $15.90.
The very next day another woman called to "confirm" my order, which was entirely unnecessary since the first salesperson had already given me an order number. It became quickly plain to me that this was a ploy to try again to sell me memberships. Thoroughly irritated, I told her that I did not want to buy anything else, whereupon she hung up the phone.
I immediately called the company and asked to talk with a manager so that I could report this incident. I got the run-around and finally the phone was disconnected. I tried this twice, and was never able to talk to a manager.
Today I was examining my c.C. Statement and discovered that on June 1 there was a charge of $39.97, and on June 7 a charge of $19.97, both by the same company, Bio-Molecular Solutions. I called the company for an explanation and learned that according to their policy I should have contacted them within 15 days if I DID NOT WANT to continue to receive the products. Otherwuse I would charged the FULL amount for both products. I protested that this policy was not explained to me at the time of purchase, and I felt it was a deceptive marketing tactic. The agent retorted that this policy was explained in a letter which came with the products, and that I should have read it.
I proceeded to call my c.C. Company, and learned that on June 12 BMS had again charged my c.C. $29.97. I immediately canceled the order and told the rep. That the company was not authorized to use my card again - for any reason, and that I would refuse the shipment when it arrived, and would request a returned merchandfise authorization (RMA) so that I could return the product for credit.By the way, the highly touted and promoted memory enhancer, MEMITOL, made no noticeable diffference for me.
On June 21, the product that had been shipped just 2 days before I cancelled the order, arrived. I called the company again, stating that I refused the shipment and requested an RMA so that I could return the product for credit, and was informed that the company does not issue credit for returned merchandise even if the package was not opened. I ASKED AGAIN TO TALK WITH A MANGER, BUT WAS TOLD THAT ALL MANAGERS WERE BUSY.
I feel that I have been taken unfair advantage of, and believe this company should not be allowed to prey upon the public any longer. Order from them AT YOUR OWN RISK!
