Union officials have not opened up books on complaints and grievances at local area hospitals in accordance with union rules. Registered Nurses and Licensed Vocational Nurses have had to flile complaints directly with management and bypass the local uniion because of delays in getting the safety issues resolved.
Grievance #1: Swine Flu Vacine (H1N1) has not been given to health care workers as a priority.
Grievance #2 Hand sanitizers have not been provided for nursing staff at the entry area of patient rooms.
Grievance#3 Lab coats are not exchanged on a daily basis and laundered in high temperature washers.
Grievance #4 Autoclave teperature for instrments has not been calibrated to standards for infection preventiion
Grievance #5 Nurses must pay out of pocket for incidentals such as blood pressure gauge and thermometers.
There are more grievences being turned in by nursing staff and the new ones will be posted as they are received. We are only concerned about safety of patients and staff at hospitals and clinics.
