Very deceptive selling practices - NOT INSURANCE, NO PROVIDER

We were contacted by an "insurance agent" who told us all about this wonderful health plan. We told him that we were looking for good HEALTH INSURANCE because our HEALTH INSURANCE was going to end soon. He bombarded us with a few different names for it, so I looked them up online while he talked and we asked lots of questions.

I told my husband that "that is not insurance - it's a 'discount plan' and it's reported on usacomplaints.com. So we asked the guy numerous times about it. He replied specifically that it was a "group plan with insurance benefits", and implied the 'discount plan' was something else - and this had real insurance benefits.

I looked his company up on the bbb and it had no complaints.

The guy told us the about the percentages covered, and it sounded comparable to other insurances we looked at. He NEVER said "up to", or "negotiated", or anything that would make us suspicious - he said this was "insurance benefits.

He said that most doctors were in the plan, but if our doctor wasn't, we just needed to have them fill out a simple form and file it with them so they could be included at regular coverage.

Then he told us we were already approved, and the rate - which was really low. So we asked him all the questions again since we couldn't believe it. We talked forever. He told us that all insurances are listed at usacomplaints.com, and that everyone has complaints - that's not unusual. But basically this was a great plan with great benefits.

So we signed up. Afterwards I found their real website, and real bbb listings. They had multiple listings with the bbb - all of which were terrible except the one I had found.in fact, in two of them their membership had been revoked because of their selling practices.

I learned on their website that THIS IS NOT INSURANCE. I looked up providers, and found none within 50 miles of my home - at all. I don't understand the plan, but what I get it's voluntary - the doctors can decide if they want to provide benefits. Huh? And all the "savings" said "up to". What???!!!???

So we called the guy back immediately to tell him to cancel. Suddenly the office was "closed". I wrote an email instead, saying I felt he was dishonest and completely mislead us. He wrote back that he has sent us a refund, and the check would arrive in a number of weeks. He also said that he had it all recorded that he said THIS IS NOT INSURANCE. So I wrote back and asked him for a copy of the recording. He said it was not available because it was in some special format but he'd assume our business was done since he agreed to send a refund.

Ok, whatever.

Then a week later, a lady calls to tell me that she is ready to refund back to my credit card. I'm not sure what to say, so she says, "has anyone called to tell you this already"? And I say, well a guy wrote me last week and said he sent a check. So she said "Oh, ok if they are planning to do it that way then you are all set... Um... Let me just verify your address... Lalalala". So I say, "Well, I'd much prefer to get refund back to my credit card" and she says, "Ok, we'll do it that way - you are all set - is there anything else I can do for you?"

Well, I see the charge on the credit card. No refund yet. No refund check. Still waiting. From what I've read on different sites, I may be waiting a while. Sad, considering I cancelled the same day I applied. We'll see!
