I went online searching for Medical insurance plans for my family since I am self employed. I applied online to a couple different plans. I get a call from Veronica at Consumer Health Benefits Assoc. Telling me I was approved for their plan. I honestly couldn't remember applying with them, which should have been my first clue.
Veronica explained that I could see ANY doctor for ANY reason and pay 20 %, with no deductible unless I was admitted to a hospital and there would be a $ 100. Deductible. I specifically asked about a refund if I wasn't happy. She said they do not refund unless my state laws requires one. After taking my address and me asking her specifically for TX, she said she wasn't sure if it was 15 or 30 days but she KNEW I had at least 15 days to receive a refund.
After 3 days from signing up and having $ 259.75 deducted from my bank account, my son gets sick. I pull up their website and search for a doctor in my area. There were 8 listed. I started calling and 7 of the 8 doctors don't even exist. The 1 that did had never heard of this company or the "provider network" listed on the website for this doctor.
I got very upset and called to cancel and get a refund. I was told that TX does not require a refund! I was completely scammed. I will report this to the attorney general in FL and IL and to each state's insurance board!
