I purchased, what I thought was health insurance, on 12/26/05. I was told I'd be charged only $119.95. I was debited $239.85 instead. I was angry for the double charge, but just as angry for it being a discount program.
I called 12/30/05,1/13/06 and each time I was told by a recording they were closed. I also called phone #877-687-2422. I am not certain which states these numbers are from. This company has a corporate office, I believe, some where in Florida.
Some one called me 1/9/06, and in retrospect, she was trying to talk me out of cancelling. Upon returning back to Colorado, I called again (1/13/06) to cancel, but sent a letter of cancellation that day.
On 1/27/06, they debited my account again. This caused a total nightmare of insufficient funds on my checking account. I never received any of my refunds that I requested. My credit union ended up returning the money.
I have filed reports to both Better Business Bureaus and Attorney Generals, in the states of Illinois, Florida and Colorado. I also reported them to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). My lawyers said for me to file a suit in small claims, I would spend more money to file than the refund. They said I did all the right things by reporting.
My credit union encouraged me to also file a police report in Colorado, because more than likely they are scamming Coloradans.
