Afdent offered a "pay plan" with no interest for 24 months for dental work done. It was never said that this was a credit card. I was told to wait till I received statement from Care Credit to start payments. Statement came with $185 listed as minimum payment which I paid on-line regularly. After asking to pay on line I did not get paper statements (only received 2 paper statements) to begin with. The minimum payment kept going down and I always wrote in the $185 as given on the first statement. I am 74 years old and have survived 4 heart attacks, cancer and diabetes and am very organized and alert mentally. I feel I was set up to fail. After a balance of $686 on an original $4,916 my Balance went to $2613.82 with no alert or warning of a baloon payment due. The monthly minimum payments kept decreasing and I figured it was because the balance was getting lower but I continued to pay the $185 as to my first setup statement. Now I realize they lower the payments so the balance won't be paid within the promotional time. I called GE Care Credit and they told me there was nothing they could do but suggested I contact Afdent from whom I got the same response. My balance for the original amount has been paid in full but now I am being billed for the 24 months interest at 29.99% making my currant balance $2,357.88. I will do whatever it takes to alert people to make sure others are not taken advantage of by companies like this. Hoping for a resolution.
