I took the time to ask the returns desk about returning items without a receipt. They claimed that I could. I specifically stated that it was two years of random material from a job site. It was 193 items worth 435 dollars. I wasted four hours bringing the items to Home Depot.
They rang it through their system, and I gave them my driver's license. They gave it back, saying that it would not work. I called The Retail Equation, and they told me that I have returned too many items in the past without a receipt. I am labeled as someone who is fraudulent and therefore put on a list of people who cannot return anything for a specific period of time. That is funny, because I never made a return in the past without a receipt. I got their report in the mail, and it confirms that the only items I tried returning were those I was denied on my one attempt.
The Retail Equation can do nothing more than send me a report. They cannot do anything else because "it is a Home Depot policy." Home Depot does not know its own policy; they were the ones who told me in the beginning that I could return the items without a receipt. So, after spending $70,000 over the last two years at Home Depot, I will now go to Lowes. Home Depot wants to treat me like a criminal. Forget them.
