I purchased two cell phones spending over $600 and thinking that I was getting the best deal plus extra services like insurance on my phones. When I lost my phone I stopped by at the Verizon office that I orginally used, to ask about my insurance. I told them I had dropped it in the water. They said the insurance does not cover water damage. I was suprised but accepted it.
The phone was just a year so it was to soon for an upgrade, but I was told that I had three lines and could activate the third line plus get a new phone for only $99. I called to ask what the total cost would be, but found that the number I called was Verizon Corp. And they had nothing to do with the Verizon store I went to. They also told me that I did not have three lines and if I had insurance then water damage is covered. I told them I know I paid for insurance on both phones, because we have lost others. They assured me my contract did not have insurance on it. I asked why I was told I had three lines when I didn't. The Corp. Office told me that Independent dealers do that sometimes to get you to activate another 2 year contract and sell you a new phone. That is absolutely crazy. There are only two of us in the home that have phones and I would be charged a monthly fee for the third phone, a data charge for the third phone, and have a 2 year contract when I already have 2 phones on contract.
The Corp. Person told me that Independent dealers only sell phones and programs and they can actually do what they want. The only thing that the Corp. Does is give them a fee for selling a new phone and contracts plus handles the billing once they get it.
I had no idea, but I will be going to the original store and find out why they treated me like they did and lied about my services. I will also tell everyone I know that unless Verizon is a Corp. Store do not use them. I cannot even find a phone number to call the Verizon store I used. I wondered why the sales person gave me his cell phone instead of a phone to the office but he said he likes to know if his customers are having problems, which is a lie. There is no phone number to that office.
