No Service, Bad Customer Service, Cannot Talk to a Supervisor

My wife purchased an AT&T wireless plan about a year ago. Since both of us also had company phones and were allowed to use them for personal use the AT&T phone sat idle. When I was laid off I decided to use the AT&T phone in my job search. Much to my dismay I found that the AT&T service did not work properly, no signal, dropped calls, failure to connect, and inability for me to hear others and others to hear me. It was impossible for me to carry on a conversation.

I called AT&T customer service frequently and received the same runaround that others here have complained about, their system was always down so they could not look up our account, no supervisors available to speak to me, telling me that there are no problems with their system in my area, and waiting on hold forever.

I was even told that cellular phones were not intended to be used indoors. On one occasion I asked for the name and address of the company president and was advised that they didn't give out that information. One person said that it must be a problem with the phone and it would cost $50 to replace it which didn't fix anything. I am completely outraged by their arrogance and apathy toward customer satisfaction.
