I have been a customer of Best Buy for at least 5 years now with no problems TILL NOW!
On September 18, I purchased a 32 inch television set and also the extended warranty plan for 4 years. At the time of purchase I was told if anything happened to my tv set, I could bring it back to the store for repair or replacement.
Well it has been a good set until September 27 this year. I went to turn it on for a nascar party, with several friends waiting in anticipation for the race, to have my set start smoking. At this time, I immediately unplugged the set, let it sit for a moment then plugged it back in, to have more smoke. Needless to say, along with the smoke were quite a few disappointed race fans!
I then called my local Best Buy store to be informed that since my tv was a 32 incher, I would have to call a 1 800 # (1-800-332-4800), the SO CALLED customer service center number. I was told a technician would come to my home that Tuesday (9-30-03). Yes, he did arrive and said that there was nothing in my set that should have caused the smoke. He then ordered a transistor and transformer for my set. Telling me before he left, that the parts should be delivered to my door within two weeks. If they did not arrive in the two weeks, I needed to call the service number again so they could put a trace on the parts.
Well guess what? After two weeks no parts, no tv. So I called the 1 800 number AGAIN, at which time they say, We will put a trace on them and call you back within 3 days. So here I am waiting for my phone to ring after 7 days, when finally I had enough!
So I called the number back again, this time they said they still could not find the parts and that they would call be back again. They did call back, to inform me that they could not reach the technician and wondered if I knew the parts numbers.
What is this?! I am sorry, is it my job to know the freakin part numbers?! I gave it a few more days before I called them back again. Besides getting put on hold and transfered from every Tom Dick and Harry in the freakin company, I ended up with a supervisior named Joe. He told me they still were unable to contact the technician and they would call his field supervisior. His quote was, " You will not be forgotten, someone will call you back within 24 hours". Guess what? My phone didn't ring, maybe I bought it at Best Buy!
So 2 days later I again contacted my local store, asking to speak to a manager. Granted at this time I was not one of the friendliest persons to ever grace the phone lines! Dana, the lady who answered the phone, gave me a different 1 800 number to call, saying this is the number of someone who cares and will help you. Guess what? Different phone number SAME CRAP!
Ok, I am fuming now, I call my local store one last time, I asked again for the manager, this time I get the operations supervisior. He listened to my gripe, and passes me off to Brad. Brad is going to fix everything right? He tells me after taking my name and number and information, that he will need to make some phone calls and he will get back with me this evening, at the lastest tomorrow morning. Do I need to say GUESS WHAT?
I am so fed up with the run around I am here to tell anyone who takes the time to read this. Shop at HH GREGG!!! Don't waste your time with this second hand misfit of a company! I just want my tv fixed, I paid for the freakin warranty and it is owed me.
