I saw a ad from dish network for 4 free receivers if you sign up with them. I did I was told I would have to pay a $5.00 access fee for each receiver. I did. I had there service and one day a receiver went out. I called and they said they wouldn't fix it (even if I paid to repair it) or even look at it. I have to upgrade.
I told them I didn't want to upgrade and would get another service because if they wouldn't fix and be so nasty I didn't want to deal with them any more. I them got off the phone and called Direct TV.
I put the receivers up and started watching Tv Jan 26 I get a bill and Feb 6. It shows monthly service. So I was going to pay thinking it was for January.
I hadn't paid yet when I got another bill for 122.09 afteer looking at trying to figure why they were still charging me it hit me — bingo I remembered and look at the Feb statement and it shows billing for 2/21/09 - 3/20/09. I looked at the new bill it was for 3/21/09 - 4/20/09 Mind you i called them the third week of january and canceled. I got a bill and called the first of april. It showed 122.09
When I called and talked to a lady I didn't state cancel. So they didn't think I ment it. Well I told them I was going with another company what the $%*& does that mean.
She said I had to pay for all of it. I get a bill for april and they deducted one month fee. I them get boxes from fedex to ship the receivers back in. The free ones right.
Well I called today 5/3/09 and the lady tells me the balance is now 502.23 Wooooo where did that come from. Well seems the Free receivers were never free at all and the access fee was really a lease charge. I said I needed her to send me the papers that I signed stating threre was a lease on the receivers she said oh it was verbal you were told that when you signed up uh NO i wasn't.
Well guess theres a $100.00 charge apiece for the free receivers and 49.00 charge for other stuff like remotes and such she couldn't even break it down and tell me what it was for. Oh and 52.32 for the bill which by the way is all ready to go to collection.
I wonder what Dish would do if we all went to small claims court and sued them.By the looks of the rippoffs they would be in there 24/7.
Now I don't know what's going to happen if I quit with Direct. I see people are having trouble with them too. Good luck to all and any comment I would love to know how you solved your problems. I am also going to file a report with bbb and Dept of comsumer good Luck
