8/26: purchased a $900 plasma tv with warranty.
12/22: called warranty number for service, they advised that we should call back after the holidays because they were very busy. The tv has a large red line down the middle of the screen.
1/2: called warranty company again to set up another service call.
1/9: warranty company came out advised the tv needed new parts and it would take 2 weeks.
1/25: called warranty company to check on status of parts, we were told that the parts were ordered on 1/15 and it would be 2 weeks from the time that they were ordered. And we would be contacted when the parts come in.
2/2: called warranty company to check on the status of the parts and find out when the tv would be fixed, warranty company advised that the parts had not arrived yet but it would probably be another 2 weeks. I was losing my cool at this point but had no other choice but to wait, i advised the warranty company that they only had 45 days to complete the service and my orginial request date was 1/9 and that they needed to complete the service soon, they advised that the 45 days begins the day the parts were ordered.
2/7: we called warranty company again to check on the status they advised they would call when parts were ready. On 2/10 we did recieve a call stating that they would be out to fix the tv.
2/14: i waited for the pepair person when he arrived they would not help me take the tv off the wall i had to find a neighbor to help, the man replaced the new parts but then advised that the part that was ordered was not the problem and he would have to put in an order for a new panel, and advised it would take another 2 weeks for a response and they will probably replace the unit because it will be to much to fix the panel.
3/14: called warranty company to inquire about the status on the tv, i was told that i would have a response within the next week.
3/23: recieved a call from brandsmart warranty offering to replace the tv with a lesser model than the one we have, which brandsmart doesn't even sell, it would have to get ordered from amazon.com. Or we could take $698.88 and buy what we want. I advised the service company that it states in the policy booklet that they only have 60 days to repair or replace the item that was out for service form the date of loss which was 1/9. I called the number that they list in the booklet for the insurance company but it is related with a workers comp company. After about 2 hours on the phone the warranty company told me that either i take what they offer or i get nothing. They also advised that the 60 days doesn't apply to me because it wasn't in affect when i purchased my extended warranty. So i have to take a tv that has the same features not the same make or price. I advised that i will seek legal counsel and go to the news to expose the scam that they play with consumers.
