Circuit City is going out of business as I'm sure everyone has heard. However I don't think they have heard the scam that they are performing. It all started when my daughters boyfriend wanted an Ipod thought he would get a great deal and purchased one. He got home and found out they did not give him an ipod but a ScanDisk type of mp3 player. My daughter tried to take it back but GUESS what... No returns and no refunds. They would not correct their error. I told them lesson learned.
Then the day came I just thought it was too good of a deal; Went in for a camcorder that was normally $399 but on their liquid. Sale for $319. I asked the sales person for the item. Came back and said he didn't have the color but he had silver. I said I would take it but I wanted an estimate on what tax would run. I was excited when he told me that it was actually cheaper than advertised by $60. Before I left the store he said "double check" and make sure everything was there. So, I did.
I went out of town excited about my great deal until the day I used it. It kept asking for a SD Card. I shouldn't need one... IT was suppose to be a harddrive camcorder. Guess what they did to me too. You got it the bait and switch. They gave me the wrong camcorder.
I went back to Circuit City knowing what I was going to have to fight. This time I had a pleasant manager who said he would exchange it straight across the board. NOT! Once I found the correct camcorder he tells me he can't alter the price that it should have been and he realized (it was my original salesman) that he made the mistake but he can not correct it. He wanted me to pay an additional $60.00 for the correct camcorder. I was not going to give Circuit City 1 more dime of my $. I could tell this guy felt bad and offered to go against policy and let me exchange it for anything up to that value. That defeated the purpose of a camcorder because no refunds were going to be issued and I went away with a camcorder that I did not want and it was THEIR fault. Lesson learned I should have known better from my daughters boyfriends issue. Bargain shopping wasn't fun in this case.
So BUYERS BEWARE... If you plan on getting that bargain at this store not only check to see if merchandise is there but IT IS THE CORRECT item.
