I purchased a Canon MX-310 printer at the Staples in Brownsville, TX expecting to get $30 back in a mail-in rebate. I mailed everything as directed in the rebate form. 10 weeks later I received a letter telling me they "did not receive the UPC symbol" along with all the other stuff I sent.
After speaking with a very rude phone rep ("I am a supervisor, sir.") at the Canon rebate center, I faxed and mailed everything again on Dec. 20.
I called on January 26, five weeks later. I got the same rude operator as before. Now she tells me they did not receive anything I faxed or mailed. She suggested I wait another 8 weeks and check back with them.
Why do they even bother offering rebates that they know they are not willing to pay? At least one rude phone rep in Memphis has job security.
