I signed up for Dish Network in February. I was a Directv customer and left them to go to Dish Network, as I thought I would save money and had a lot of problems with Directv.
When I signed up, I was told the package I ordered was $32.99 a month. There would be a flat fee of $5.00 per month for all 4 receivers (not $5.00 each). I also asked him about phone lines, and he told me that i didn't need a phone line for each receiver...
Fast forward 2 months... To my new bill. The first bill I received a credit like they told me. My new bill showed my package price as 39.99 a month, $5.00 Additional Receiver fee and two $5.00 Programming Access Fees.
After calling Dish Network and dealing with a pretty nasty woman, she forwarded me to a new guy in a different department that helped me. BUT, he explained that the 32.99 a month is the package price, but they throw other "fees" in there. He also told me that the $5.00 programming access fees were because I didn't have phone lines hooked up to my receivers. WHAT?!?!?! He was going to credit me for the next 10 months, but I STILL have to go out and buy wireless jacks.
He (and the first nasty woman I talked to) said that the guy didn't lie to me when I signed up. I don't NEED the phone lines, but they're nice to have to avoid the monthly programming access fees.
Unbelievable. So, now I am stuck in a 2 year contract with them... And in the process have to go spend more money on the wireless phone jacks.
