Beware of purchasing any cellphones from this company! Ripoff!

I brought a (Cingular razer v3) yesterday from Galaxy Communications a dealer nearby my home. Theres a reason why I put the brand of razor in parenthesis I will explain that later. Anyway, I returned to the store today due to an annoying buzzing sound whenever the phone is opened. Also the hinge of the phone had some chips on it which indicates that the phone was dropped. Those were my only major issues with the phone. Its a really nice phone, with very easy to use features. All of my phone calls were crystal clear. Camera works well. So I figuire maybe this buzzing noise means that the phone is defective and due to the chips I can just go trade for a new one. Easy right??? Well...

When I went back to the dealer, he was not pleased to see me. I watched him take another phone out of the box pop in my sim card and turn it on and the thing still had the buzzing sound. Apparently this might be an issue with alot of these phones as i have been reading online. Anyway he did give me another phone. Which I thought was a new V3 razor phone. I got the new phone home and come to find out it was a v3r (rohs) phone. This is a European model phone that is not unlocked nor compatible with Cingular wireles. The problem is that some of these phones are not even covered by warranty with motorola and to my surprise, I couldn't even access cingular media net on the phone.in fact there was a sign that said "No service" on the phone. Although I could make and receive calls they sounded really horrible and with alot of static. It must have been one of the first models every made because it had the default date of april on it. Keep in mind that I paid him for a brand new razorphone.

After 20 minutes on the phone with Cingular wireless and trying to access medianet. The rep literally walked me through step by step to create a new connection because At&t nor cingular was even set up on this phone. Only companies like qwest and some others I have never even heard of. The rep told me the problem was in the phone. He said the phone was not unlocked and I couldn't get anything set up on it. Even the charger was different from the newer ones. It had 3 peices to it. The dealer had given me a usb cord, for free but I couldn't even update anything on the phone because with that you need the software and the drivers.

I immediately went back to the dealer (3rd time this weekend) and after spending an hour trying to explain to him that this v3r Rohs phone was not compatible with my cingular/at& t service and was locked. He actually didn't understand what the difference was between locked and unlocked. He suggested trying to download the updates himself on the phone. After 30 minutes of unsuccessfully transforming this rohs phone into a cingular/at&t compatible phone, he picked two more of these antique's off the shelf and kept trying to work with them. However he couldn't get my settings to work with it. Fustrated I finally decided it was not worth all the trouble and I ended up taking the original phone I had and leaving. It also appears that most of the razor phones are older models and most not set up for alot of the american service providers.

Heres my advice to anybody thinking about buying one of these phones.

Make 100% sure that the place you are buying a phone is a reputable authorized dealer, who knows about phones. Obviously the place I went to was not. The man knew nothing about phones and I am not sure if the phones they have there are up to date or older models or just junk.

My advice is that you should go to the website of your provider and purchase the phone directly from them or from Motorola. Your other options are if your going to purchase a cell phone, purchase it from someone reputable or another well known store who will provide a warranty and return policy.

I called Motorola and they said I have a years warrenty on this Pink GSM phone and that I could take it an authorized repair center and they will fix it for free. Thankfully that is the case but I think I have learned a valuable lesson here.
