I purchased a RCA big screen TV from Sears Outlet. The TV was brand new and had a small scratch on the side. After four months the a part went bad causing the screen to appear distorted. I called an RCA service center and was told that this was common in big screen TV's and it was a cheap and simple fix.
I contacted Sears Service Center and was told the first appointment they had was for a week later which I scheduled. On the day of the appointment they called to reschedule for four days later.
The next appointment day came and again they called that morning to cancel. They rescheduled for four days later. On the day of this appointment, they called again to reschedule and I told them that this was unacceptable. They agreed to have someone come out the next day, but they were unable to have them come in the afternoon when someone would be there to let them in.
After spending many hours on the phone with many different people I still did not have a confirmed appointment. They then called my husband and had scheduled for four more days later. I called back and was rescheduled for the next day and once again that morning they called to cancel.
Everytime I tried to call and complain no one would put me through to a manager. Whenever they promised to have a technician or manager call me back they never did. I took my TV to another repair shop and he informed me after 1 week that he found out RCA would not cover the warranty because Sears voids all manufacturers warrantys when you buy from them.
My only choice was to wait the month that they want to repair my TV (after the tech finally showed up for 10 minutes and my child having to show him how to work the remote) or return it for a new one.
The problem is the only TV that they have now in the same size is 900 dollars more. I am basically stuck with them.
