I purchased a Sony 50 inch LCD television from Circuit City in 2003. They convinced me, against my better judgement, to purchase an extended warranty. The manager told me "This is a fairly new technology in TV's and if anything goes wrong, even 1 burnt out pixel, they will fix it no questions asked.in 2004 I noticed a blue dot, a little smaller than a dime on the bottom right of the screen.
I called up service, they sent someone out. The technician that came out said that it was to small to fix, Sony will not authorize the fix. I explained I had purchased the city advantage extended warranty. He said it did not matter.
I called circuit city support and they said the technician had to fix it. I put the technician on the phone and he said he could not fix it as per Sony. He got off the phone and said "the support guy is in India, he does not understand the extended warranty".
I went to Circuit City to get them to authorize the fix and they changed their tune. They said that Sony requires a certain amount of pixels to be burned out before they can fix it.
Circuit city extended warranties are rippoff's!!!
Never, ever buy one.
I would love circuit city to respond to this but I doubt they will. I will not buy anything from them anymore and have convinced friends and neighbos to do the same, that is all we can do for frauds like this.
