Sprint PCS and Cavalry have devised the perfect method of harrasment and fraud; by ignoring you.
In 1998 I cancelled using my sprint cell service, paid a bulk of the bill and was to finish paying a small balance the following billing cycle; when it came around I found Sprint had added a monthly surcharge of around $45.00 even though the account was cancelled. They said it was customary to do this until the bill was paid in full. AND my $200.00 payment was seen nowhere in the records.
Bank had the cancelled check however. The usual began; I send a copy they say nothing. I call and get no response back. I refused to pay anymore until they rectified the error and they kept tacking on their premium.
Eventually it gets 'purchased' Cavalry, who send the collection notice. I called to their offices and explained about the Sprint situation and they fellow says - well send what you know you owe with an information letter. I asked that he send a revised bill reflecting the info I just provided, before I send anything - to which he agreed, and that was the last I heard from them for awhile.
Of course it was on my credit history; like a slow blinking red light.
I moved a couple of times since this all occurred, but they've caught up with me again and are now offering 'a deal' - which is still too high according to my reconning, but I was about to pay it just to have it done with... Until I read the reports on this site.
Waiting a little longer to see what may transpire won't make it worse; and good luck to all.
There is - after all - no guarantee they'll correct their own report history either.
Arizona seems to be an unusually lenient State toward providers/retailers and overly harsh for the consumer.
