In November I received a bill from Cingular, with direct billing charges totaling $164 charges for internet related items, such as games, ringtones, and some sort of an internet chat. I called Cingular and I told them that these charges were bogus as the internet had been blocked from that phone since just a few months after we got the phone, because it was my teen-aged grandson's phone and he was downloading ringtones and games.
The first customer service representative, said that they must have been billed before we shut off the internet services, and I told her to check and she would see that the charges were made in October and that the internet had been blocked almost a year. I thought I had made her understand that, but before the end of the conversation, I realized she was not going to anything about the fraudulent charges. So I called again, and I got a nice young man, who sat for an hour and a half and tried to take off the charges, each one took a while to do, as he tried to charge them off.
I told them I would pay the rest of the bill but I would not pay those charges, they said I might get my phone cut off, if I didn't. I said I would take that chance. Time went on and nothing was down about the charges, and so I called again, and I made a mistake my not getting the name of the customer service representatives I talked to, and but she said she would work on it for me, she gave me the telephone number of the company, and I called and got an automated service and I told to stop charging, this was in November, I got my new telephone bill for December and more charges were on it clear up to December 11.
It did no good to call M_Qube and tell them to stop, they didn't do it!!! Today I talked to another customer service representative, and got no satisfaction, she said it could take weeks for them to take the charges off my bill, and in the meantime they are threatening to cut off my phone service if I don't pay these bogus charges, I think that Cingular and this company are in this together. I told them today that I would not pay those charges and if the shut off my phone I would not pay to have it turned on again and that I would not pay the fee for cutting it off. I am very disapointed in Cingular you would think they would want to protect their customers, from these fraudulant companies that prey on people.
The only thing my grandson did was visit the site, he did not subscribe to anything nor did he download anything from this site as he couldn't, and I was setting right there beside him and I know that he didn't sign up for anything, it was a site advertising free ring tones, and his original phone had stopped working and we had replaced it and he wanted to see if he could get any free ringtones, as he knew we would not pay for anything.
The customer service representative stated that we did not read the fine print, but that is not true there was no fine print on that site, they get you by asking for your cell phone number, and if you put it in there, they will charge you, many times in one day, and the times were times when he was in school, and could not have been on the phone, but if he had tried to download any ringtones or anything it was blocked, Cingular says they have no way of knowing if the charges were real or not, even tho, the internet is blocked they just accept the charges. I have worked with computers for a long time, and I know that if the account were flagged no internet, the charges would not have been accepted.
