Ripoff bait switch for old att wireless customers

I was a former ATT Wireless Blackberry user with a tri band phone, 7280.

My phone started jumping between cingular (GSM) and cingular wireless (GPRS) networks with the latter giving great signal and the former giving pathetic signal. Unfortunately, the weaker Cingular (GSM) signal is the one my phone persistently connects to so I have terrible reception rendering my phone basically worthless.

Cingular Customer No Service told me that I had to switch to Cingular (I thought I was Cingular?), select a new rate plan, sign a new contract, and buy a new phone to correct solve the problem.

The supervisor told me that there was no higher authority and that I would have to write a letter to escalate the complaint.

No one was able to explain to me why my phone could momentarily receive the superior Cingular Wireless (GPRS) signal but not hold on to it.

The customer service people are basically idiots who seem to work from a script and have no ability to reason.

I do not feel like a valued customer. I feel like a victim.
