A few months ago I purchased a paint stripper from an infomercial on TV. I had a suspicion they were going to try to sign me up for everything under the sun, so I was *very* adamant about telling the salesperson that I did not, under any circumstances, want any added charges to my credit card account. I vividly remember telling her that I only wanted to be billed for the paint stripper.
Lo and behold, several months later there was a charge on my credit card for $139.95. I called the company listed on the statement, MWI Homeworks Plus, and demanded that they remove this charge. A few weeks later I called my credit card company and asked them to verify that the charge had been reversed. They notified me that only $108.50 had been credited.
I called MWI again and demanded that they refund the $31.45. The MWI girl gave me to clarify whether I asked for an "entire refund" or "just a refund". I told her that I wanted an *entire* refund immediately. She agreed to do so.
We'll see what happens. I'm about to call my credit card company right now to get their involvement. I feel like as a consumer I was very clear to the salesperson that I did not want any "extras" and they totally scammed me anyway. Well, they picked the wrong person to scam.
