I recieved a credit card statement from a credit card account I've had for 2 years and it has never been used. I don't even have the card I cut it up over a year ago. I didn't even know what the account # was until I recieved this statement.
I recieved the statement on 2-12-04. It was to bill me for $139.95. I was outraged when I saw this because I couldn't figure out how my account could be charged with out me knowing it.
The transaction description was MWI* HomeWorksPlus 877-549 Stamford CT charged on the date 1-13-04. I called my credit card company to tell them I've never heard of this place and that I haven't even activated my credit card I cut it up and threw it away. So how could it be charged?
The customer service lady from the credit card company said I would have to contact HomeWorks Plus to see why they charged my account. How could I do this when I've never heard of this place. So I decided to look it up on the internet to try to find a web page or a phone number so I could see what was going on.
I typed MWI HomeWorks plus in the search engine and the first I don't know how many links that came up were Rip Off, and usacomplaints.com and stories of people that have had the same thing happen to them. I was so angry when I saw this, because I just don't understand how a credit card company can be charged without your authorization.
How could they've gotten my credit card number when I didn't even know it. The card has never even been used or activated. I feel like I'm in the middle of a nightmare and that I just need to wake up!
There is no way I can afford to pay this money out of pocket. I'm a single mother with too many other bills to take care of. My credit card company is going to charge me interest and finance charges for this money when I didn't even spend it. What I'm I supposed to do? How can I get this money credited back to my account. HELP ME!!! MWI HomeWorks Plus has got to be stopped!!!
