Americredit
A lot of interest Texas

I called Americredit today to find out where the extra 500.00 came from in my statement. I know that I did miss a payment in November. I said that with late fees, I may have been looking at about 380.00. I made a payment of 360.00 and will make payments until I finish. When I see the extra money, I wanted an explanation. When I call and get customer service, the young lady verifies my account info and transfers me without saying why. When the young man answers the phone, I had to ask him where was I transferred to and why. He tells me that I had been transferred to the expired contracts division.??? Go figure. I asked why and says that my contract has expired and now I am not under contract with Americredit anylonger. I was baffled because I thought that my contract had been extended after being placed in deferment. This was what I was told. If I had placed these two payments into deferment and pay the fee of 180.00 to do so, that I would not have to worry about those payments until such time, which is now. So when I ask why was I not told that when doing the deferment and given all of the terms upfront, he said he did not know. Of Course Not. So I try to get him to explain how the interest was accruing and he said daily at 18% per day because the contract is expired. Because it is expired and everything was not paid, the daily interest kicks in, even though I paid for a contract extension. I asked to speak to a manager who of course had to give me a call. She then tried explain the same thing, it still did not make sense to me. So now she says something interesting by saying that I am now in default because I did not pay the loan on time, even after paying to have it extended. I don't work in the financial world and don't understand exactly how it works, I will be the first to admit it, but it seems as though Americredit is participating in predatory lending. I have had similar experiences with this company that some of the other people making complaints on this website have had. I can almost gurantee you that everyone had bad credit and Americredit gave them a chance to obtain a new vehicle at a lower interest rate than a used car dealer. I had my paydates moved all around in the interest of helping me out with my payments, but not with the understanding that even though I would not be incurring any late fees that it woud acrrue interest.in the end, the interest rears its ugly head and your stuck. This is neat for them because you are then out over 20,000 and could run the risk losing your vehicle over a little as 500.00. If anyone is interest, I would like to look at a class action suit. I have seen the report about the person not getting their car title. I will see what will happen when it comes time for me to get mine.
