I have been a customer of Americredit since August. I purchased a 2001 Dodge Intrepid at a dealer with guaranteed approval because of a past bankruptcy. The amount financed according to the website is 22397.19.
I have now paid 24908.40 to date and still have 22 more payments which means I will have paid at the end of the loan $13256.01 in interest alone. I understand that those of us who get into financial trouble will often pay for our mistakes but geesh!
I have asked twice about refinancing at a lower interest rate and been told that they simply do NOT refinance loans. I just hope and pray that the car will last as long as the loan does. To me it is a shame that businesses like Americredit prey on those who have less than PERFECT credit. Isn't there a limit on the amount of interest or interest rate you can charge a person?
I also get angry with the email reminders of an upcoming payment. I know when my payment is due and I don't need a reminder. You are also allowed 10 days before the late fees are to be added and they will start calling you at home/work before this time has elapsed.
