Repeated motor break down warranty repair refused

As a smoker, I was excited to learn about the air purifier / filtration device being marketed through an associate within the office I worked. He apparently sold these units on the side. Being a Realtor seemed to generate enough leads to make his efforts worth while.

The gentleman / distributor suggested I place one in my home and "test drive" the unit for a week. I did so, and was impressed with the results. The home smelled fresh and clean, and the unit performed quietly and very effective.

After one year of intermittant use, the motor became noisy. I returned the unit in it's original box to my distributor for repair. He sent the unit back to Eco Quest Internationsl, and the repair was performed under warranty. When the unit was returned, it again ran quietly once again.

Now, once again, the motor began to make loud noices during it's use. Although disappointed, I again returned the unit to my distributor for repair. At this time, the gentle man said he had given up his distributorship for reasons having to do with factory charges to him, all of which deminished his income considerably. Simply not worth it while only selling minimal units. He did however agree to send the unit in for repair. This time, I was told that the unit was not registered and that warranty repairs would no longer apply. Had the warranty simply expired, I would understand and would be prepared to pay for the repair. However, with them claiming that the unit was "Not Registered", and that warranty repairs were unavailable, I felt very uncomfortable and I'm inclined to question the authenticity of their findings.

I'm unwilling to believe that they have no record of my having registered my unit when purchased. Afterall, how is that the same motor failure problem was repaired under warranty a year ago, yet that repair or any repair necessary is now denied due to my not having registered the unit when new. The "not registered" claim offered makes no sense. Surely they have no intention of making my repair. Surely their previous repair would produce records evidence of warranty coverage. If necessary, I'll submit all original paper work and receipts in my posession, if requested.

Plainly, Eco Quest is attempting to rip me off while thinking I'm some kind of idiot! I'll update you once all of this nonsense is behind me.
