We entered into a warranty agreement with hwa in april. Be began having problems with our central a/c unit in july, due to the extreme heatwave where the temperature was in the upper 90's and the a/c unit was having difficulty cooling the home.
Called into hwa to have a technician come out and service the unit. Hwa told me that i should expect that my a/c unit would not be able to handle such extreme heat and that i should set my themostat at a higher temperature - 78 degrees instead of the 73 degrees.
Hwa basically talked us out of filing a claim in july because of this for when the temperature outside cooled down, the a/c unit began to work better.
We recently started having problems in our a/c unit in september, so we called in for someone to come out and look at it.
Hwa sent out their own service technician, he examined the unit, and determined that it needed to be replaced due to age and basic wear and tear of that unit.
Hwa refused to repair or replace the unit because they stated there were "a multitude of problems since 7/02" with the a/c unit. This statement by hwa is a total lie.
There have only been to calls made regarding the a/c unit during my contract with hwa and only one service call in 9/02. What does "a multitude of problems" mean?
What? They won't make good on their warranty because the entire unit needs to be replaced and hwa doesn't make a profit?
Hwa guaranteed to repair or replace items like a/c units if the unit was maintained and the unit died under normal use (i.E. Normal wear and tear).
Well, the technician identified the the unit died until normal wear and tear so what is the problem here? We have also had the unit serviced every year for cleanings.
Why won't the honor the warranty? Well, this warranty with hwa is turning out to be a total scam, so buyer beware!!!
