This is my first time to use this site, so please bare with me.
I have been reading alot of reports on Ameriquest Mortgage and was "Devistated" at the amount of complaints from consumers everywhere.
I too am a victim with identical stories such as I've read. Last night is the first time on this website. I was not looking for it specifically, I just "so
happened" to come across it and I couldn't beleive what I was reading!
I had just been at my attorneys office yesterday (before finding this site) to inquire about legal rights & regulations related to predator lending. Maybe I will sound pretty stupid, (and beleive me; I felt pretty stupid too!)
At the time I refinanced my mortgage with Ameriquest, I truly had never heard of predatory lending! And I'm 47 years old, I am not iliterate, but I had never refinanced a home. Had no clue and didn't ask for advice.
I suppose because I'm a very independant person and I probably trust too many people. I truly beleived the broker that came to my home with false promises. I Trusted him!!! That's what I am guilty of.
I beleived the man when he told me my mortgage could be refinanced at
a fixed rate at the end of 2 years when it became a variable. This was after
I specifically told him I did not want a variable loan. "I did know that much"!
What I didn't know, when I contacted AMC after 2 years was that they didn't
refinance on manufactured homes! I didn't understand then "why" but I do now! Iwas a single woman then! I am now married and it wasn't until recently
my husband explained to me predatory lending! What a lesson learned!!!
I realize now, (after reading this site) that I am not alone and I am not a stupid person, I am a trusting person and beleived that this co. Wanted to help me. But now I know I was "just another victim"
I had to be a part of this and tell a little bit of my story, (and there is more)
much like most of you, but at least I feel better knowing it's not just me, although at the same time, I'm sorry it happened to anyone. And it definitely
doesn't help our economy!
Greed is taking over our world! What a shame and what is it going to be for our children & grandchildren? I guess teach them and warn them of the
evil & greedy people in the World and hope they learn. I was never exposed to such, so I didn't know.
We can also hope & pray that our government will take this very seriously and make federal laws & regulations for this type of greedy business. It's kind of like gasoline gouging, Kick the consumer and take advantage of them when theyr'e already down!
I may never get my situation resolved, but I'm glad I came across this site and learned so much I didn't know, as in how many people this has affected.
