Hughes Network Services or better known as HughesNet, ripped me off. I spoke to a customer service representative and she told me all about their service. Seemed to be really good service considering I live in a rural area. I really didn't have a choice but to get their service if I wanted internet because no one else services my area.
Two days after my installation, which cost $125 because the guy didn't want to get on the roof, I started having speeds slower than dial up. When I called customer service, the lady told me it was because I had reached my downloading limit. The problem was I didn't download anything. Well, technically I did. Surfing the web counts as downloading because the page and the pictures on it have to download for you to see them. With this service, you can't even open half your email because of the downloading restrictions.
When I first spoke to the customer service rep to set up my service, I specifically told them that I would be connecting a Playstation 3 to it by router for downloading and online gaming. They said "no problem". NOT! They have misrepresented themselves to being this great service provider and honestly I would have been happier with dial up.
It's like paying $80 per month for dial up. I tried to cancel my service when I was told of the downloading restrictions. They told me that I would have to pay $400.00 for the equipment because I signed a service agreement. Well, I don't recall signing a service agreement and I never received a copy of one either. Please help us!
