To those of you who want to get your money back from these bastards, I have only one word of advice: persistence.
After you've gone to your bank and filed a fraud report, call the company every day. 24ProtectPlus got me, so I called their number, 800-211-9749, literally every day.
Remember that most of the people you're talking to are working in call centers and have no idea what's going on. Politely tell them that the company they're working for is involved in illegal activity and is under investigation from the FTC (this is only a half-truth since the FTC actually tolerates these companies after a couple kick-backs.
Do some research on this and you're likely to find that the FTC is more corrupt than we'd all like to believe).
Evoke images of grandmothers on fixed-incomes being taken on scams, single moms trying to make ends meet, struggling students paying there way through school. They're people too, and they will likely be sympathetic. Ask to be transferred to a supervisor after the person on the other end becomes unfortable and tells you that they can't say anything because their conversation is being recorded. Now the supervisor will try to give you a run-around... My department handles claims and not billing... We process accounts through such-and-such protocol. These guys are not trying to be helpful, they are trying to confuse you. Push hard! DEMAND that all your money be refunded immediately or you will keep calling every day and inform every one of their employees in the call center that they work for an illegal company.
After a week of this, they put back all $226.50 in my account... As well as an extra $108.70. I also received $150 from my bank after they had concluded the investigation. Although I got back twice what they had taken, it was by no means worth it. I've changed all my accounts since, and the energy it's taken to fight these people has left me exhausted. But hey, at least I've got my money back... And then some.
