First National Government Grant - First National Benefits
Ripoff claiming to be collecting donations on behalf of the Tsunami victims

On August 15 my mother-in-law recieved a phone call from an organization named First National Benefits claiming to be collecting donations on behalf of the Tsunami victims. She was asked to donate either 29.95 and recieve in return $500 in grocery coupons. Or, to donate $299.95 and recieve a free goverment grant for $1500. She is on disability and has a limited income but big heart and told them she could only donate the $29.95... They asked for her checking account number and routing number to do an automatic withdrawal. She gave it to them thinking they were legit. On September 10, she realized that they had deducted $299.95. She contacted her bank and was told they could do nothing about it. She and myself have contacted the 800 number listed as First National Benefits and were told that this was just a customer service center only taking calls for this company and had no connections to them. We were both disconnected when we questioned further..
