On May 17, I received a call from a lady named Sharon Raymond. She said she worked for First National Government Grant Benefits and that I qualified for a grant in the amount of $9,500 based on my income taxes.
She gave me her employee I.D. Number for the purpose of verifying she and her employer were legitimate. She went on to state that a one time processing fee of $29.95 would be debited from my account and that within 4 -5 days I would receive an " information/welcome packet" in the mail.
On May 19, $29.95 was debited from my account. About May 30, I started calling the 800 number I was given to find out where my information packet was; to no avail. June 7, I called a second number that I was given only to find out that it was a number to a long-distance phone company that they had signed me up for.
On June 8, I called my bank for unrelated reasons finding that my account was unexplicably short. When I spoke to bank rep, I was told that a $299.95 fee had been debited from my account for medical benefits that I didn't sign up for from a company calling itself First National Health Care Benefits. Wouldn't you know that their phone number was the same as the phone number of First National Government Grant Benefits?
From a one time processing fee of $29.95 for an information packet regarding a grant to unauthorized sign up for long distance phone service to an unauthorized account debit for $299.95 for medical benefits, this company needs to be stopped!
I called the 800 number to call them on their deceit and they tried to say that I authorized all of these extras and refused to refund my money.
